The Germantown Festival began as a way to promote a growing community. It offered a day of family entertainment and shopping for locals and a means to show the best of Germantown to visitors. Thirty-seven years later, the festival is still based on the same concept; however it has grown to a two day event held annually in C. O. Franklin Park and Morgan Woods (7700 block of Poplar Pike) on the first weekend after Labor Day. Call 757-9212 for more information.
Festival visitors will have a chance to shop, entertain the kids, meet new friends and renew old acquaintances. Attractions include more than 400 arts and crafts booths, children’s rides, games of all types, live stage entertainment, car exhibits, community displays and food vendors for all tastes.
A favorite event is the Running of the Weenies, a dachshund race, in the Germantown Charity Horse Show arena on Sunday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. Call the Germantown Animal Shelter at 757-7358 for more information.
Please stop by the Germantown Area Chamber of Commerce tent to visit with Chamber members and learn more about their businesses, try your hand at our dart game, and take a look at the Germantown Train Depot ornaments and Germantown license plates that will be for sale. These special Germantown items are also available for purchase at the Chamber office located at 2195 Germantown Road South.
Festival hours are Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Sunday from noon to 6 p.m. Admission is free and complimentary shuttle bus service is available from parking lots in the area.
We hope to see you at Festival!
